Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise have roped in Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff as Josh Hazlewood’s replacement for IPL 2021. He was bought for Rs 2 crore by the 3-time champions ahead of IPL 2020. Hazlewood had pulled out of the tournament citing bio-bubble fatigue as the reason. He will be spending the next two months with his family.
Hazlewood is the third cricketer from Australia after Josh Philippe (RCB) and Mitchell Marsh (SRH) to opt out of IPL 2021.
Speaking to cricket.com.au Hazelwood said, “It’s been a long 10 months in bubbles and quarantine at different times, so I decided to have a rest from cricket and spend some time at home and in Australia in the next two months.”
The news of Jason Behrendorff joining three times champions CSK was confirmed on the official website of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Behrendorff has featured in 11 ODIs and seven T20Is and this will be his second IPL team, having represented Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2019. He had played five matches and picked as many wickets. Overall, Jason Behrendorff has played 79 T20 matches and taken 90 wickets in them
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face the previous year’s finalists Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 10 in Mumbai.
