Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni was welcomed back with open arms ahead of the Indian Premier League 2020. The official twitter handle for the team tweeted out the news of MS Dhoni arriving in Chennai. The tweet read, “Every goose shall bump with First Day First Show feels! Just #StartTheWhistles! #HomeSweetDen”.
MS Dhoni has not participated in any competitive matches since the World Cup last year. His sabbatical from the game is scheduled to end with the IPL 2020. Previously, he has missed the tour of West Indies and New Zealand. In addition, the former Indian team captain has also skipped the home series against South Africa, Bangladesh, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Australia. He is not a part of the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa.
The team skipper will start preparing for the upcoming edition of IPL 2020. MS Dhoni has led CSK to three IPL title victories in 2010, 2011 and 2018. CSK has made it to the finals eight times under the able captaincy of MS Dhoni. The team faced some dark times when they were suspended for two years for the alleged involvement of their owners in the 2013 IPL betting case. They shut down critics by winning the IPL in their comeback season.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had retained its core and released five irregular players ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 auction. Since CSK has bought only four players at the auction, their line-up will largely remain the same. Since CSK already seems to have the winning formula on lockdown, they do not need to make major changes ahead of IPL 2020.
CSK will face current champion Mumbai Indians on Sunday 29th March 2020.
