Coronavirus infected 25-year-old mingled with 1,000 guests at a wedding in Dombivili
The 25-year-old resident of Dombivili in Maharashtra who has tested positive for the new coronavirus attended a wedding. The youngster who works in a multinational had been on a trip to Turkey with 21 friends. He reached home on March 15 and four day s later attended his brother’s wedding. He mingled with 1000 guests at the function. In a shocking development, it has been learned that after the wedding the youngster started showing symptoms of cough and fever. He is presently receiving treatment at the Kasturba hospital.
The civic health department is presently tracking all the guests who had been to the function. Till now, 5300 people have been examined for the same. Three members belonging to the youth’s family are also undergoing tests at the Kasturba hospital. The 21 friends are also said to be under the scanner at the moment.
Till now, six people have tested positive for the virus in Kalyan-Dombivili city. Two have recovered and discharged. It is to be noted that the wedding was conducted despite the state government’s notification, which had banned people cluster of more than 50.
Presently the total number of coronavirus cases in India has climbed to 724 today. More than 85 cases were reported from the various parts of the country on Thursday the highest official single-day count so far. Out of the total patients, 677 are Indians and 47 are foreign nationals.
Looking at the need of the hour, Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary, Union Health Ministry said that an order to a PSU to provide 10,000 ventilators has been given. Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has also been requested to purchase 30,000 additional ventilators in 1-2 months.
