The fifth edition of the Indian Super League has kicked off and it has already seen some spectacular moments on the field, produced by some talented footballers who have proven that they are ready to go for the long season ahead.
Here are five footballers who have made an impact so far in the two matches played:
Rowllin Borges (NorthEast United FC): A versatile Indian midfielder Rowllin Borges has made an impact for Northeast United FC. He has made a total of 129 successful passes in these two games, with a passing accuracy of 88.37%. He also has made three interceptions, six tackles and three clearances. With an ability to feed his forwards and connect with his defence, Borges has displayed a lot of versatility for the northeast outfit.
Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem (Kerala Blasters): He has been highly impressive for the Blasters. The former U-17 stopper has entrusted the faith that gaffer David James and has cemented for himself a place in the playing XI. The youngster has made six saves so far, one clean sheet and conceding just one goal in a total playing time of 180 minutes.
Jerry Mawihmingthanga (Jamshedpur FC): In his second year at Jamshedpur FC, Jerry has made 58 successful passes , two tackles and four clearances in the 150 minutes he has played. Into his second year at Jamshedpur, the DSK Shivajians academy graduate ha featured for the club in 16 matches last season where he had scored a goal and had an assist to his name as well.
Sandesh Jhingan (Kerala Blasters) : The defender has been strong at the back with six tackles, two interceptions, two blocks and 17 clearances for the Blasters. The veteran has played the most number of matches in the ISL and his long association with head coach James would help his progress in the long season ahead.
Nishu Kumar (Bengaluru FC): He has been solid for Bengaluru defensively with 11 tackles, eight clearances and four blocks. He is one of the gear defenders this season who possess a good tackling capability and his ability to come up with stunning goals makes him one of the biggest assets in a team.
