Anyone who has ever lived in the north-east of India will be able to vouch how cherry blossoms usher in winters in the most beautiful way. The pristine pink cherry tree adds some colour to the wintry atmosphere and its pink petals that fall off, end up forming a soft carpet on streets. The view is breathtaking and how! And there is nothing better than celebrating this beauty as a festival.
Currently, the third edition of the India International Cherry Blossom Festival-2018 is underway in Shillong. This beautiful event will be held from November 14 to 17 on Polo Ground in Shillong, this year.
In the year 2016, the first cherry blossom festival was held in Shillong. The event was innaugurated by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and was graced by the Japanese Ambassador to India, Kenji Hiramatsu.
Meanwhile, as the festival rolls on, visitors can enjoy fashion shows, rock concerts, a beauty pageant and even compete in an amateur Golf Tournament.
