India has registered an increase of more than 11,000 new coronavirus cases for the third consecutive day. The new cases have taken the total number of patients to over 3.32 lakh, as per the Health Ministry. Moreover, the death toll in the country has now risen to 9,250 with 325 new deaths.
The ministry shared that the number of confirmed cases climbed to 3,32,424 with 11,502 new infections in the last 24 hours. There are now 1,53,106 active cases of Covid-19 in the country. Meanwhile, 1,69,797 individuals have recovered, as per the ministry data which was made available in the morning. On the positive front, the recovery rate has risen further to 51.1%.
Additionally, states like Assam, Bihar, Himachal, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and West Bengal have recorded more recoveries than new cases. However, states like Maharashtra and Delhi have been the worst affected. In fact, Maharashtra’s total number of coronavirus cases has now risen to 1,07,958 including 50,978 discharged. There have been 3950 deaths, as per Maharashtra Health Department. Moreover, Delhi has over 40,000 confirmed cases with more than 1,000 deaths.
India ranks 138 in the world when it comes to tests per million population. In addition, the testing rate is over 4000 tests per million now. On Sunday, 1,15,519 tests were conducted, which is much lower than the average of the last few days.
India is the fourth worst-affected country by the coronavirus pandemic. Only the US, Brazil, and Russia rank higher than India at the moment. All four countries have more than three lakh cases. The United Kingdom, meanwhile, is likely to cross the 3 lakh-mark.
