The second T20 International between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium is postponed. This is after all-rounder Krunal Pandya tested COVID-19 positive. Along with Pandya eight other team members who were in proximity of Krunal Pandya, are being isolated. The players who were in close contact with Krunal Pandya will be monitored closely.
Two of them are Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav. If they test positive then Shaw and Yadav might miss the England Tour.
ANI tweeted,
As reported by sources to ANI, Krunal Pandya has tested COVID positive which has caused both the teams to go into isolation. The match will now be played on Wednesday if the results of the other team members come out negative.
India won the series-opener by 38 runs on Sunday. Krunal Pandya took 1 for 16 in his two overs in the first game. The second game was scheduled to be played on July 27 from 8 pm IST. Sri Lanka needs to win on Wednesday to stay alive in the CoinDCX Cup.
Both Indian and Sri Lankan teams are in a bio-bubble. The players of both the team are isolated as per standard protocols. The ODI series between India and Sri Lanka was earlier deferred due to Covid-19 cases in the home team’s camp. Sri Lanka’s batting coach Grant Flower and data analyst G T Niroshan had tested positive upon their return from England tour.
