On Friday (August 27), the Seoul Central District Court hosted the first trial session for Kim Hanbin aka B.I from iKON band in drugs and others illegal charges. This K-pop idol was alleged of using drugs and marijuana (thrice between March 2015 and April 2016) following he had to part his ways from the boyband. According to the latest reports, the singer has admitted to all the illegal charges against him and apparently the prosecutor demanded for a 3-year prison sentence alongside a penalty fine of 1.5 million Korean won (equals to Rs. 95,085).
According to latest reports by South Korean media portals, B.I’s legal representative revealed that the star has admitted in the court about his past mistakes. He also revealed that the singer is currently ‘deeply reflecting on himself’ and the ‘disturbance’ he caused as a public figure. He was only a teenager (19 years) at the time of his drug use.
A latest report by Allkpop quoted B.I’s representative stating, “He made a mistake out of curiosity. Furthermore, B.I is a first-time defendant with no criminal or civil record, and he has carried out community service as well as nonprofit donations continuously since his debut. The album he recently released is also part of a project to donate all proceeds.”
The report also stated how B.I admitted his mistake in the court. The singer has been quoted admitting all illegal charges, “I made a completely foolish mistake in the past. I was young and naive, but even so, I was foolish for what I did. I hurt my family.”
