ICC ODI rankings: Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah maintain top spots
Indian captain Virat Kohli and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah held on to their spots in the latest ICC ODI rankings which was released on Monday.
The 2-year old Kohli continued to lead the charts with 884 rating points to his name while vice-captain Rohit Sharma also maintained his position in the second place with 842 points.
Rohit’s opening partner Shikhar Dhawan is the only other Indian to feature in the top ten in the rankings for batsmen. Placed fifth, Dhawan aggregates a total of 802 points.
Meanwhile, it was Bumrah, who is known for his ability to bowl economical spells at the death, remained the number one ranked ODI bowler with 797 points. Teammate Kuldeep Yadav is on the third spot in the list with 700 points to his name.
The second position is held by Afghanistan’s leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who has 788 points. Kuldeep’s wrist-spin partner Yuzvendra Chahal is at the 11th place.
England continue to be the top-ranked ODI side with 127 points and second-placed India are just five shy of that mark, having 122 to their name.
The number one ranking, however, would be decided according to the outcome of the England vs Sri Lanka ODI series.
England, under Eoin Morgan, would have to win the series to remain as the number one ranked side. India would have a chance to make it to the top should they beat the West Indies at home and England lose the series to Sri Lanka.
But if a scenario arises when both India and England win their series, they would each gain one point which would push their tallies to 128 and to 123.
