Hyderabad: Heavy Rains Lash City, Low Lying Areas Flooded
Heavy rainfall lashed many parts of Hyderabad city. The sudden thundershowers that hit the city also resulted in several places witnessing flash floods due to the high intensity of the rains. Roads and the low-lying areas are inundated with water after the downpour.
Several low-lying areas were flooded and people were forced to drive on submerged roads. Two people have been reported missing after they were swept away by the strong currents in low-lying areas.
K Purushottam, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Vanasthalipuram said, “Two persons have been washed away after drainages overflowed due to heavy rains. The rescue team is searching for them,” as quoted by news agency ANI.

In various places, the rainwater entered houses and restaurants. Rainwater entered a restaurant in Old City after incessant rains lashed Hyderabad, yesterday.

On social media, users shared videos of vehicles being swept away and people wading through floodwater while questioning the inefficiency of the administration to facilitate proper infrastructure.

As per weather updates, The rains are expected to slow down in the next half hour or so, and moderate rainfall is likely to continue for a while after that.
