Why Hitler never replied to Gandhi’s letters? Reason is here
The two very important figures of the last century were Mahatma Gandhi and Adolf Hitler. Both were exactly opposite, Mahatma Gandhi was a famous non-violent leader in India while Adolf Hitler was famous for war and genocide in Germany. What would have happened if these two leaders corresponded with each other? Well, the answer is Gandhiji tried communicating Hitler twice but was never answered.
Gandhiji always walked on the path of non-violence and was ready to talk with any leader for restoring peace across the world. Gandhiji’s noble ideas and massive destruction during the period of World War II forced him to write a letter to Hitler twice for the restoration of peace.
In the letters, Gandhiji referred to Hitler as a “Friend,” claiming that nonviolence leaves one without enemies. He also tried to warn German dictator from starting a war in Europe through a series of letters in the year 1939 and 1940.
However, the letters never reached to its recipient and therefore weren’t replied. Not knowing about the letters, he invaded Poland. While many historians said that the letters were intercepted by the Britishers and hence never reached Hitler.
Now one can imagine how difficult it was to send a letter to Germany through proper channels during World War II from a British occupied territory.
Here is one of the letters.
Importantly, if the letters would have reached to Hitler and if he would have followed Mahatma Gandhi’s advice, today the history would have been totally different.
