In a road accident, at least 13-people were killed and three injured after their jeep swerved off a road and fell into a deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district on Saturday, reported PTI. The accident reportedly took place three kilometres away from Kuddon on Tiyuni road.
The only survivor, Prakash Sawant, narrated how he got out of the bus when he realised the bus had skidded on the muddy road. “The bus veered to the left and fell into the gorge before we could understand what was happening. Trees arrested the fall someway down. I had managed to jump out in time. I climbed my way up somehow,” he had said.
Among three injured, including a child has been admitted to Rohru Hospital, Shimla’s superintendent of police Omapati Jamwal said. Among 13 people killed four were women.
A police team led by Jubbal Station House Officer and Swara police post-in-charge is at the accident site, he added.
The state has witnessed a lot of bus accidents this year. Last month on August 23, at least 11 people were killed in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu after a car rolled down a hill. The fatal accident took place near Rohtang at Rani Nallah in Kullu district of the hill state.
More details are awaited.
