Hima Das Wins Fifth Gold of the Month as She Returns to 400m Event
Hima Das who is also known as Dhing Express has chartered yet another milestone by claiming her fifth gold medal in July 2019. The Indian Sprinter Hima Das has returned to her pet 400m competition in 52.09s on Saturday (20th July 2019). Notably, Hima has a national record of completing 400m in 50.79s which she did at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Fortunately, Hima Das is the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal in a track event at the IAAF World U20 Championships. The latest one was her fifth gold medal since July 2 when she took part in her first competitive race in Europe.

In her first 200m race, Hima Das clocked 23.65 seconds on her way to gold at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland on July 2. Post that, she won her second 200m gold at the Kutno Athletics Meet, also in Poland, on July 7 with a time of 23.97 seconds.
On July 13, she won her third 200m gold at the Kladno Athletics Meet in the Czech Republic with a time of 23.43 while she won her fourth gold at the Tabor Athletics Meet on Wednesday.
Apart from Hima Das, MP Jabir also won a gold in the 400-metre hurdles race, clocking 49.66 seconds but Mohammad Anas secured a third-place finishing the 200m with a timing of 20.95 seconds.
