According to the latest reports, the Serum Institute, Bharat Biotech’s proposal for the emergency use of Vaccines has been rejected by Indian Health Ministry and the reason is an inadequate data from the institute.
As per a report by NDTV, sources while talking about the denial of the use of emergency vaccines said, “Both proposals are not approved due to inadequate safety and efficacy data available currently. Both have been asked for more data.” The decision was reportedly taken during a meeting of the Subject Expert Committee of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) on Wednesday i.e. December 9.
The same report has also quoted sources from the Serum Institute saying, “It is standard practice for the government to hold several meetings. The process is expected to go on for one or two weeks”.
