Haryana temple Mahant arrested for raping 120 women

A 60-year-old Mahant at Baba Balaknath Temple in Fatehabad’s Tohana, was arrested by the Haryana police on Friday for allegedly raping 120 women and also making video clipping of them.

The accused Baba Amarpuri alias Billu used those clips to blackmail the women and forced them to visit the temple repeatedly, so that he could sexually assault them.

Reportedly, a relative of the accused gave those clippings to the police. Fatehabad women police station in-charge, inspector Bimla Devi said Amarpuri has been sent to police remand for five days reported the Times of India.

“We filed a case and started probe. His premises were also raided and we seized some suspicious articles. “We are in the process of getting details about his victims so that their statements can be recorded,” said Devi adding that two women have come forward and are ready to record their statements against him.

The Baba has been booked under several sections of the IPC and the Information Technology Act.

“Amarpuri would threaten the women that he would make the clips public and force them to visit him multiple times,” said the police.

This is however not the first time that Amarpuri, whose real name is Amarveer has been charged of rape. Just nine months ago, he was accused of secually assaulting a women inside the temple.

Baba Amarpuri has however got a bail in the case. He even alleged that he was being framed for not paying protection money to police.
