A gruesome case of sodomy and torture has come to the fore in Haryana where six students of a school located at Rohtak’s Ladhot village were allegedly sodomised by their seniors and some staff members for the past several months. The victims are reportedly students of Classes 5 and 6.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, on Sunday, family members of some students visited the victims in Rohtak on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The students narrated the “horrific” tales about how they were being repeatedly sodomised, thrashed and threatened of dire consequences if they disclosed the matter to anyone.
The parents of the students reported the matter to the police and lodged a complaint.
Rohtak Sadar police station in-charge Manjeet Kumar said, “an FIR has been registered on the complaint of six students.” Kumar also said investigations were underway.
“A case has been registered on the basis of one complaint that contained statements of six students studying in Classes 5 and 6. It is registered against some senior students and staff members of the Gurukul under Sections 202 (hiding information), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (crime committed by many with same intention) and 377 (unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides Section 4 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act,” he added.
The district child welfare committee (CWC) has assured a conduction of counselling for the victims on August 27.
“All the students will be counselled in the following days to find out if there are any more victims as well. The CWC will provide free legal aid to the victims and get constant follow-ups from the police officials in this case,” said Raj Singh Sangwan, chairperson of the CWC.
He said, “A team will visit the school on Monday and give notice to the management to seek their detailed response on the allegation of the students.”
