Harmanpreet Kaur to lead India in women’s World T-20

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian team for the Women’s World Twenty-20 confirmed the BCCI (Board of Cricket Control in India) on Friday. The All-India Women’s Selection Committee, which picked the team also named opener Smriti Mandhana as Kaur’s deputy for the competition.

The sixth edition of the global tournament will be held in the West Indies from November 9 to November 24. India has been placed in Group B along with Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Ireland.
Former skipper and women’s highest run-scorer Mithali Raj has also been included in the Indian team for the 10-team tournament. India plays the first of the competition against New Zealand in Guyana on November 9. India play all of their matches in Guyana.

West Indies are the defending champions, while Australia with three titles are the most successful women’s team of this format.
