Hardik Pandya., who smashed 91 runs in 34 balls on April 28 against Kolkata Knight Rider before getting out in 18th over, has said that he does not care about records and he will never play for records. He also said that the only thing that matters t o him is, his team should win.
On Sunday, Kolkata Knight Rider (KKR) set a target of 233 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Eden Gardens. From KKR side, Andre Russell had demolished the MI bowling attack hitting a 40-ball 80 in a must-win Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. Hardik Pandya smashed the fastest fifty of IPL 2019 (17 balls) and made 91 from just 34 balls. He was merely 9 runs short of his maiden T20 century.
When Pandya was asked, does he play for record? he said, “I don’t care about records. I’m someone who will never play for records. For me, I don’t care about the numbers, I don’t care about my stats. It’s just that in short, the team should win. That’s the only focus I always have. It’s good to be honest but I will never play for records. I had no idea… In the end, for me, what matters is that the team should win. Today [Sunday] was not our day and I don’t count these records.”
Hardik added: “I knew I had to keep scoring runs and keep hitting sixes. To be honest, I didn’t have much of a plan. It was simple. Everyone knew what I had to do – just go and enjoy my game, keep hitting and make sure I don’t get out.”
Notably, Hardik Pandya turned out to be one of the best finisher in IPL 2019. He further added, “My confidence will obviously grow high. I really want to win this IPL. After that, I have the World Cup – which is my dream. I want to get the World Cup and I want to make sure I keep doing this, what I’m doing right now. Hopefully, we get the IPL trophy and the World Cup.”
