Ranbir Kapoor may have been born with a silver spoon in his mouth but he took no time in becoming the Bollywood heartthrob.
Ranbir made his debut in 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariyan. The Rockstar is considered to be one of the most the sought-after and talented actors in Bollywood.
However, sometimes his link up rumours with Bollywood’s leading ladies takes a precedence over his work.
Over the span of 11 years, here are his best films:
Saawariya:
The film may not have the biggest hit on box office, but Ranbir definitely took our hearts away with his towel dance. He also earned the Filmfare award for the best male debut.
Wake up sid:
The film is directed by his favourite director Ayan Mukherji. In this film, he struck chords with today’s youth and established a connect with them as an actor. He finds his passion and learnt the meaning of responsibilty.
Rocket Singh: Salesman of the year
He played the role of a Sikh salesman. His dialogue, ““Risk toh Spiderman ko bhi lena padta hai, main toh phir bhi Salesman hoon,” touched hearts. The film starred his parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor as well.
Rajneeti:
From all the roles which Ranbir had played till now, this was very diverse from all his films. Not the chocolate boy anymore, Ranbir played the role of Samar Pratap Singh, son of a politically influential mother, who was forced to join politics. It is definitely one of his best performances.
Rockstar:
This one should have actually topped the list. The image of the cute-faced Bollywood star changed into that of a powerful actor after Imtiaz Ali’s film Rockstar. The film won hearts and the audience loved his performance.
Barfi:
He played the role of a hearing and speech impaired boy. This was a role which many mainstream actors would have denied but Ranbir played it with elan. The film was selected for the Best Foreign Language category for the 85th Academy Awards.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani:
This is one of Ranbir’s most popular films, not just because he starred opposite Deepika Padukone but also because of his character, Bunny.
Tamasha:
Ranbir again went out of his comfort zone and acted opposite Deepika Padukone. The message of doing what you love was successfully passed on to the audiences.
Sanju:
Sanju is a biopic of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt. Ranbir was so convincing as Sanjay Dutt that audience though it was Sanjay Dutt himself.
Now, Ranbir will be seen in Ayan Mukherji’s Brahmastra opposite Alia Bhatt.
