India’s most charismatic captain of Indian cricket team MS Dhoni is celebrating his 38 birthday. The ‘Captain Cool’ was born on July 7 and remains one of the world’s biggest cricket icons. On his special day ICC pays him a special tribute.
ICC applauded the World Cup-winning captain for changing “the face of Indian cricket“. Dhoni has won all cricketing accolades including captaining India to triumph at the 2011 ODI World Cup, 2007 T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy.
The ICC posted a video celebrating the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman’s achievements:
Post India’s victory against Sri Lanka in Headingley in the ongoing Cricket World Cup, Dhoni’s birthday celebrations kickstarted with his wife Sakshi, little daughter Ziva, colleagues Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant and other friends.
MS Dhoni’s career started with a duck against Bangladesh on December 23, 2004. But he went on to become one of the greatest batsmen in history. MS Dhoni’s cool demeanour and poker face in tough, pressure situations became part of cricketing folklore.
A small-town boy from Ranchi, Dhoni used his cricketing wits to help India win the 2011 ODI World Cup, 2007 T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy. No other man has captained his country to victory in all 3 ICC tournaments.
MS Dhoni-led India in 200 ODIs, of which India won 110 matches. At home, he captained the team to 43 wins out of 73 matches. Till now, MS Dhoni has represented India in 90 Tests, 348 ODIs and 98 T20Is. He has scored more than 10,000 ODI runs, and near about 5,000 runs in Test cricket.
He also holds the record of most number of stumpings in international cricket – he has affected 123 stumpings.
Dhoni is currently playing for Team India in the ongoing World Cup 2019.
