After the massive success of ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’, Hansal Mehta is back with the second season of the popular franchise, which is tentatively titled ‘Scam 2003: The Curious Case of Abdul Karim Telgi’, the series will be adapted from Reporter ki Diary authored by journalist and news reporter Sanjay Singh, who is credited with breaking the story.
On Thursday, production banner Applause Entertainment announced on their social media handle with the official statement and captioned it as: “💥 SCAM ALERT! 💥We are thrilled to announce the 2nd season of our popular ‘Scam’ franchise – ‘Scam 2003: The Curious Case of Abdul Karim Telgi’.”
Hansal Mehta also re-tweeted it and wrote, “Here we go… ”
Just like ‘Scam 1992’, the new chapter will also be released on the digital platform SonyLIV. The series will showcase the life of Abdul Karim Telgi, born in Khanapur in Karnataka, and his journey to becoming the mastermind behind one of India’s most innovative scams that took the entire country by shock. Reportedly, the scam value was around ₹20,000 crores.
The second season will be helmed by the National award-winning director, Hansal Mehta. Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with StudioNEXT. The shooting is set to set to go on floors this year.
