Hansal Mehta on recreation of songs, says, ‘stop listening to the songs’
Film director Hansal Mehta took a dig at 'Masakali 2.0' and blamed the audience for making the remixes popular.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Hansal Mehta shared a series of tweets, urging people to stop listening to the songs, “This ‘recreation’ of old songs can stop if the public rejects them. The numbers on YouTube for godawful versions of old songs are huge and hence music companies keep producing them. Stop viewing the videos. Stop listening to the songs. Stop playing them at events. They will stop.”

He also confirmed stating that he is talking about Masakali 2.0. “Yes. I am reacting to the awful, ear shattering #Masakali version. But check its YouTube views in 48 hrs. Then see how DJs blast it at events. And how people groove to the godawful version. Shit sells. While we cringe, somebody is laughing his way to the bank.”

The original ‘Masakali’, penned by Prasoon Joshi and sung by Mohit Chauhan, had featured in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s 2009 film, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor. Whereas, the new version is composed by Tanishq Bagchi and sung by Tulsi Kumar and Sachet Tandon.
