‘Gully Boy’ to be screened at Berlin international film festival
Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt to be screened at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival. The Musical drama Gully Boy is among the first nine movies which have been selected for the competition and the Berlinale Special.
Expressing their announcement, both Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt took to Twitter to share the happiness. “Delighted!!! ‘Gully Boy’ has been selected by the Berlin International Film Festival for a special gala screening!!! Ow Oww,” Ranveer tweeted.

The story of the film Gully Boy revolves around the lives of street rappers in Mumbai. Reportedly, it is being said that ‘Gully Boy’ is loosely inspired by the life of rapper Vivian Fernandes popularly known by his stage name Divine. The film is being bankrolled by Zoya Akhtar’s Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment productions.
Earlier, announcing the film’s release date, Alia had posted the picture on her Instagram handle:
It is to be noted that this would be the first time when Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh will be seen together on silver screen. Interestingly, apart from Alia and Ranveer, the film also stars Kalki Koechlin and television actress Pooja Gor.
The 69th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival will run from February 7 to 17, 2019. The festival will open with ‘The Kindness of Strangers’ and apart from these films, entries from Austria, Germany, France, Turkey and Canada have been invited to participate in the film festival.
