Health Ministry issues guidelines for domestic and international travel

India is all set for the resumption of air travel after nearly two-months. The flights were suspended following lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has decided domestic flight resumption from 25 May. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued guidelines for international and domestic travel.

Given the ongoing fight against Covid-19, however, the movement of people by air is conditional. There are various restrictions in terms of baggage, arrival time, security check requirements, transport to the airport, and check-in facilities. Some of the guidelines include wearing face covers/masks during the entire journey. Following social distancing norms and thermal screening done by airports.

Passengers can carry only one check-in bag and one cabin bag. A laptop bag is allowed. No food will be available on the flight.
Only web check-in is allowed, all passengers have to do web check-in to ensure minimal human contact at the airport. They have to take a print out of the baggage tag at the time of web check-in and paste it on their baggage. Safety kits with a mask, face shield, and sanitizer will be issued.
