International fashion brand, Gucci often ends up creating buzz whenever celebs make splashes carrying expensive products. This time around the fashion brand is attracting backlash on social media, over its new collection of Kaftans which appears to be inspired by Indian Kurta, the outfit is very much common in Asian countries. Netizens took to social media to call out the brand for its hefty price tag alongside a common dress which is easily found in the market for an affordable price. The Kaftans on Gucci’s website look exactly similar to that of the Indian Kurta.
Reportedly, Gucci had introduced its kaftans collection somewhere in 1996 with a unique collection. Their new collections on the site show the resemblance of several different cultures. The latest collection of Kaftans are apparently made with printing on the silk and linen Kaftans, which also have traditional floral artwork at the necklines alongside the tassels. This makes it look inspired by the Indian version of Kurtis that is found on the fashion streets for easily affordable price tags. Twitterati calls out the brand for selling it worth Rs. 2.5 lakh per Kaftan. The price tag of this outfit on Gucci’s official site ranges from USD 2,100 (Rs 1.5 lakh) to USD 3,500 (Rs 2.5 lakh).
