Government Relaxes Rules; Facilitates Work From Home for IT Industry

The government has done away with most of the registration and other requirements for the IT Industry and BPO’s. This is a major move to facilitate permanent work from home for tech companies. The government has also done away with requirements such as deposit of bank guarantees, for static IPs, frequent reporting obligations, the publication of network diagram, penal provisions.

The relaxation was provided by the department of telecom after demands made by IT and tech companies that sought permanent relaxation on working location after initially starting the trend during the corona lockdown period.

PM Narendra Modi tweeted,

He added,

“The new guidelines are inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s strong emphasis on Minimum Government, Maximum Governance. India’s IT industry is a source of pride for the country and the new guidelines are aimed at removing unnecessary bureaucratic restrictions to allow the industry to focus on innovative new products and solutions,” the ministry of communications said in a statement.

The new framework is expected to provide a strong impetus to India’s industry and will make India one of the most competitive IT jurisdictions in the world.
