Observing the general public’s decreasing interest in using Allo, Google promised to turn its focus away from Allo and started improving the experience on Android Messages. According to a report in XDA-Developers, Android Messages is testing Google Assistant integration. The whole intention behind such trails is to increase usage of Android’s default SMS app.
The current testing states that you can only summon Google within conversations and there is no way to Chat directly with Google Assistant like you can on Allo. Google Assistant was provided to XDA only for responding with recommended restaurants and the weather.
There are updates that claims, Google has already brought many features that were originally on Allo to Android Messages including sticker packs, a web-interface client and smart replies. Allo was launched two years ago, and Google recently suggested that it is ‘pausing investments’ in Allo because the ‘product as a whole has not achieved the level of traction.’ To get another step closer towards filling the gap between Allo and Google’s universal Chat, Google Assistant has been included.
Everyone is hoping, Google will enhance more functionality in further development, and expect the changes in UI and features too.
