IGP Jaspal Singh, of the Goa Police said, “It’s too shocking. Madam called us to inform of the news. It’s something we are all still to understand. We have lost our chief.”
Singh further informed that DGP Nanda was traveling to Delhi on leave and had left in the evening after attending two important mentions. The first meeting was with the chief secretary of the state. The second meeting was on the meritorious medals to be given to officers of the state cadre.
“He was a very welfare-oriented officer and soon after he took over most of the important meetings were towards that direction. He was also pursuing the files on promotions of the cadre and the administration. It’s very rare when you have an officer who is not just task-oriented but also welfare-oriented,” added Singh,
Pranab Nanda was a 1988 batch Indian Police Service officer and belonged to the Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, and other Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre. He had taken charge as Goa Director General of Police in March this year.He was earlier attached to the Intelligence Bureau for nearly two decades.
