A shocking incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi on the International Day of the Girl Child. A girl — class 9 student — died after returning from an event organised around the theme of “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”. The kin allege that she died due to the district authorities’ carelessness and poor arrangements.
As per the incident, the girl — Supriya Sharma — returned home with high fever from the event on Thursday and was hospitalised after that. He parents allege that the condition of the girl worsened after she returned from the event and she died due in the hospital during the treatment.
Blaming the authorities of making poor arrangements, the father of girl alleged, as reported by Indian Express, “She went to attend the function. But the arrangements there were not up to the mark. Drinking water was not available. When my daughter came back home, she was suffering from high fever.” However, the organiser Hemant Rao — Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) from Hardoi — denied the allegation.
He said, as quoted by the daily, “Every facility was available — medical, drinking water etc. The accusation made by the family is baseless and the matter is being investigated.” Around 11,000 school girls attended the event on Thursday to an oath for ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign.
