The fourth film of the popular Ghostbusters franchise is all set to hit the big screens next year. The latest installment is being directed by Jason Reitman. Good News for the fans of the spooky drama, as per an Italian website Badtaste the new title of the film will be ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’. There has been no confirmation of the same by the makers of the film. At present, the movie is going by a provisional name of ‘Ghostbusters 2020’.
Details of the upcoming release have been kept in wraps. But reportedly it is expected to be the sequel of the first two releases. The movie has the original cast reprising their classic roles. The plot of the film is going to bring the story of a small family that shares a connection with the characters of the original film. The story will be focusing on a young girl, brother and single mother as they explore the legacy of the Ghostbusters decades after the events of 1989’s Ghostbusters II.
Reitman disclosed the reason behind going back, and said, “I feel like part of making what we call GB20, the next one, is a form of archaeology. It is oddly in many ways an archaeological film. And we are kind of looking through the past and I’ve been asking myself all the time ‘What is it that makes it a Ghostbusters movie? What makes a Ghostbusters ghost a Ghostbusters ghost?’ So getting to see this original footage has been extraordinary. It’s been like finding the hidden opening to a pyramid.”
Ghostbusters 2020 is directed by Jason Reitman, who also co-wrote the film with Gil Kenan. The film stars Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd and Mckenna Grace. It is scheduled for release on July 10, 2020.
