Ghanshyam Nayak who is well-known for playing the role of Natwarlal Prabhashankar Undhaiwala a.k.a. Nattu Kaka in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah recently revealed that he is battling cancer and currently, the chemotherapy session is going on. Amid this, the actor has resumed the shooting of the show.
Confirming his return to the show, Ghanshyam told Dainik Bhaskar in an interview, “My health is fine, but treatment had to be started again. Currently, I am undergoing chemotherapy sessions. It was after four months that I shot a special episode for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah in Daman last week. Believe me, I enjoyed a lot.”
The actor said that in the show, as per the storyline, Natukaka is in his village, and from there he makes a call to Jethalal (Dilip Joshi). Further, Nayak said that he went to Gujarat for a day just to shoot this call sequence and the episode is set to telecast in two days. He revealed that at present he is waiting to start the shooting in Mumbai.
Ghanashyam Nayak underwent surgery after eight cancerous knots were detected in his neck last year. “In April, we did a positron emission tomography scanning of his neck, in which again some spots were found. He did not have any discomfort or pain in any way. But we did not want to take any risk, because of that we have started his chemotherapy sessions again.
The actor’s son Vikas Nayak also told the publication that his father was doing well and needed to just visit the hospital for a session once a month.
