Gauri Lankesh murder: SIT claims to crack case soon, arrests two more accused from Hubli
In a series of arrests in journalist Gauri Lankesh’s murder case, two more suspects have been arrested by the Karnataka Police’s Special Investigating Team (SIT). The two suspects are identified as Amit and Ganesh who were arrested from Hubli under the Arms Acts, which added the total number of arrest in the case to 10. The arrest comes after Mohan Nayak’s arrest, another suspect in the same case, reports Times Now.
The recent arrest has uncovered the two missing piece of the Gauri Lankesh murder case. The police sources say, Amit and Ganesh are the one who pulled the trigger and the murder weapon, which is yet to be recovered. With this new revelation, the police claimed to have established a link between the 2015 assassination of MM Kalburgi who was killed in Dharwad, Karnataka and the assassination of Gauri Lankesh in 2017. Gauri Lankesh, a famed journalist and activist, was assassinated outside her residence on Bengaluru on 5th September 2017.
MN Ancheth, the investigating officer of the SIT investigating Gauri Lankesh murder case, was quoted as saying the news agency PTI in Bengaluru, “A person identified as Mohan Nayak, 50, was arrested from Dakshin Kannada district of Karnataka,” Nayak was sent to six days police custody by the Third Aditional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Parashuram Waghmare, a 26-year-old, was detained from Sindhagi in the state’s Vijaypura district in June. He is believed to have links with right-wing groups, according to the PTI report. The other arrested suspects in the assassination are KT Naveen Kumar, Amol Kale, Sujeeth Kumar, Manohar Edve and Amit Degvekar. Kale and Degvekar, all these suspects are said to be from Maharastra.
