The man who lost his life was 24-year-old, and the two who were found unconscious in the basement are 26 and 52-year-old.  All the affected people were the employee of the Samsung company and were inspecting the factory’s gas related facilities.

“It is believed that the cause of death is suffocation due to a carbon dioxide leak,” Samsung said in a statement and further investigation is going on. Samsung is said to be the world’s top maker of smartphones as well as memory chips operates a vast semiconductor production compound in Suwon.

It has become usual to lose lives at major companies, and it has always been in the headlines in the South, which has struggled to improve poor safety standards in factories.

This was not the first case, in January this year, four workers suffocated due to a gas leak at a steel factory owned by Posco, the country’s top steelmaker — in the southern city of Pohang.
