Ganesh Chaturthi: PM Modi greets nation, others follow suit
The festive fervour in India has started with the arrival of the most awaited festival — Ganesh Chaturthi. The 10-day-long festival started on Thursday and people from political arena to Bollywood have all shared their best wishes on Twitter. First among the political ones include Prime Minister Narendra Modi and after that, all other leaders followed the suit.
The festival celebrated on the birthday of Lord Ganesha, usually falls in the month of August or September of the Gregorian Calendar. Sharing his best wishes, PM Modi took to Twitter and wrote, “Greetings on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. सभी देशवासियों को गणेश चतुर्थी के पावन पर्व की शुभकामनाएं।”

Vice President of India also greets the nation on Ganesh Chaturthi reading, “Lord Ganesh is revered as an embodiment of wisdom, prosperity & good fortune in our country. The festival Ganesh Chaturthi is marked with the installation of Lord Ganesha clay idols individually in a home or publicly in pandals. The observation also includes the chanting of Vedic hymns and Hindu texts such as Ganpati Bappa Morya.
On the day of this Hindu festival, people are decked in new or fine clothes and distributes sweets to people as a festival treat. On the last of the festival on Anant Chaturdashi or Ganesh Visarjan on September 22, the Ganesha idols will be immersed into a water body.
