‘Have full faith in judiciary’, says Jayant Sinha on garlanding mob lynchers
After the media reports on Union Minister Jayant Sinha garlanding and felicitating the mob lynching culprits in Ramgarh in Jharkhand circulated on Saturday, Sinha tried to cover it up with ‘usual’ comments. The Minister was of the opinion that those eight people came to meet him at his house after getting a bail. Adding that, he has full faith in judiciary.
Quashing the allegations that he is supporting the mob lynching culprits, the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation said, “I have full faith in our judiciary and rule of law. Unfortunately, irresponsible statements are being made about my actions when all that I am doing is honoring due process of law. Those that are innocent will be spared and guilty will be appropriately punished.”

Adding more, he said that in the matter of lynching Ranchi High Court has suspended the sentence of the accused and released them on bail while admitting their case. Sinha said, “In the Ramgarh case(mob lynching), the Ranchi High Court, which is the first court of appeal, has suspended the sentence of the accused and released them on bail while admitting their case. The case will once again be re-heard.”

In a trial to clarifying that he is a public representative, he said that no one has the right to take law in their hands. The Minister said, “I have already clarified my stand. The accused should be punished. I am a public representative and a minister, I have taken an oath to protect the law. No has the right to take law in their hands.”
Earlier, Sinha was seen a photograph garlanding and felicitating eight lynching convicts, out of total 11, who were sentenced to a life term for beating Alimuddin to death on 30 June last year.
