The vehicle users across the country are worried as the prices of fuel rose again on Sunday. Notably, the petrol is being sold at Rs 82.72 per litre in Delhi and Rs 88.18 per litre in Mumbai. Diesel is being retailed at Rs 75.38 per litre and Rs 79.02 per litre in Delhi and Mumbai respectively.
The petrol prices were increased by Rs 0.06 in Delhi and Mumbai. A spike was also witnessed in diesel prices by Rs 0.19 and Rs 0.20 respectively.
The news agency ANI quoted, “Petrol and diesel prices in #Delhi are Rs 82.72 per litre (increase by Rs 0.6) and Rs 75.38 (increase by Rs 0.19) respectively. Petrol and diesel prices in #Mumbai are Rs 88.18 per litre (increase by Rs 0.6) and Rs 79.02 per litre (increase by Rs 0.20) respectively.”
Similar trends were witnessed in Chennai also, where the petrol and diesel today are being retailed at Rs 85.99 per litre and Rs 79.71 per litre respectively. In Kolkata, petrol is being sold at Rs 85.54 per litre, while diesel has reached Rs 77.23 mark.
On Saturday, the petrol was sold at Rs 82.66 per litre in Delhi and Rs 88.12 per litre in Mumbai. Diesel was retailed at Rs 75.19 per litre and Rs 78.82 per litre in Delhi and Mumbai respectively.
However, on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a discussion with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on rising fuel prices.
The fuel prices started increasing on a daily basis since mid-August. The petrol and diesel prices had gone up by nearly Rs 6 per litre before the Centre announced a cut last week. The central government on October 4 had announced a reduction of Rs 2.50 per litre on both diesel and petrol. Following the suit, several states also announced a price cut in fuel prices. However, soon after, the prices again began to rise.
