Fuel price hike: Petrol costs Rs 88.29 per litre in Mumbai, Rs 82.83 per litre in Delhi
Prices of fuel surged up again on Tuesday. Notably, the petrol is being sold at Rs 82.83 per litre in Delhi and Rs 88.29 per litre in Mumbai. Diesel is being retailed at Rs 75.69 per litre and Rs 79.35 per litre in Delhi and Mumbai respectively.
The petrol prices were increased by Rs 0.11 in Delhi and Mumbai. A spike was also witnessed in diesel prices by Rs 0.23 and Rs 0.24 respectively.
News agency ANI quoted, “Petrol and diesel prices in #Delhi are Rs 82.83 per litre (increase by Rs 0.11) and Rs 75.69 per litre (increase by Rs 0.23), respectively. Petrol and diesel prices in #Mumbai are Rs 88.29 per litre (increase by Rs 0.11) and Rs 79.35 per litre (increase by Rs 0.24), respectively.”
Similar trends were witnessed in Chennai also, where the petrol and diesel today are being retailed at Rs 86.10 per litre and Rs 80.04 per litre respectively. In Kolkata, petrol is being sold at Rs 84.65 per litre, while diesel has reached Rs 77.54 mark.
However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday warned oil producers like Saudi Arabia that high crude prices are hurting the global economy and sought reasonable rates and a review of payment terms to provide a temporary relief to the local currency.
The fuel prices started increasing on a daily basis since mid-August. The petrol and diesel prices had gone up by nearly Rs 6 per litre before the Centre announced a cut last week. The central government on October 4 had announced a reduction of Rs 2.50 per litre on both diesel and petrol. Following the suit, several states also announced a price cut in fuel prices. However, soon after, the prices again began to rise.
