As per Indian Oil data report, petrol price is down by 10 paise across major cities of the country, except for Chennai where petrol rate is reduced by 11 paise.

Currently, petrol is being retailed at Rs 81.34 in Delhi, Rs 86.81 in Mumbai, Rs 84.53 in Chennai and Rs 83.19 in Kolkata.

Similar decline was also witnessed in diesel prices. Diesel is down by 7 paise across the nation. it is being retailed at Rs 74.85 per litre in Delhi. In Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, a litre of diesel now costs Rs 78.46, Rs 79.15 and Rs 76.70, respectively.

On Monday, multiple strikes were conducted by fuel pumps, auto-rickshaw and taxi unions and Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) contractual employees. Owing to this, commuters in Delhi had to face a lot of hardships and trouble. More than 400 petrol pumps went on strike against Delhi government’s refusal to reduce VAT on fuels.

Averting the allegations, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of ‘threatening’ petrol pump owners with Income Tax raids if they did not go on strike.

He took to twitter and wrote a tweet in Hindi, stating that “BJP people have threatened petrol pump owners of Income Tax raids if they did not go on strike. The oil companies also stated that tough action will be taken against petrol pumps not on strike.”

He also accused that the prices of petrol and diesel rose because of ‘arbitrary taxes’ levied by the Modi government at the Centre which should be reduced to provide relief to the people.

Arvind Kejriwal tweeted “Arbitrary taxes were imposed on petrol in the past four years by Modi ji and not us. Modi ji should reduce taxes to give respite to the people.”
