Renowned French Fashion Designer Pierre Cardin Passes Away at 98
Renowned French designer Pierre Cardin has passed away. The acclaimed French designer was 98 and best known for his forward-thinking designs that are still reflected in modern fashion. The news was shared by France’s Academy of Fine Arts. They announced in a statement on Twitter that French fashion designer Pierre Cardin is no more. Cardin who was 98 years old, is best known for his mod 1960s-era designs.

His family confirmed to Agence France-Presse that he died in a hospital just outside of Paris. They released a statement saying, “It is a day of great sadness for all our family. Pierre Cardin is no more. We are all proud of his tenacious ambition and the daring he has shown throughout his life.”
Born on July 7, 1922 in Venice, Italy, Cardin was a notable designer of women’s clothes. He was a pioneer in designing high fashion for men. He was quite popular in Japan. Cardin was also the first designer to hold a fashion show in Moscow’s Red Square that drew a crowd of 200,000. He also became the first French designer in 1979 to cement links with China.
