Veteran actor Fred Willard passed away at his home in Los Angeles The actor known for his roles in Modern Family, Everbody Loves Raymond and others was 86 years old. His daughter Hope Willard confirmed the news on Twitter that the actor passed away due to natural causes.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the news my father passed away very peacefully last night at the fantastic age of 86 years old. He kept moving, working and making us happy until the very end. We loved him so very much! We will miss him forever,” she tweeted.
Willard was one of Hollywood’s busiest comedic actors with a career that lasted more than 50 years. From 2003 to 2005, Willard was nominated for three Emmy Awards for playing Hank on “Everybody Loves Raymond.”He was nominated a fourth time in 2010 for his recurring role as Frank Dunphy, in “Modern Family.” In 2016, he joined an elite list of comedians and comic actors who have received the Johnny Carson Comedy Legend Award.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Mitch Mulbarger, and his grandson Freddie. His wife Mary died in 2018.
