The swearing-in ceremony of PM Narendra Modi on Thursday saw the presence of not only national dignitaries but also international leaders, allies and bureaucrats. Former Bhutan prime minister Tshering Tobgay also attended the mega ceremony. An Indian media organization made a goof-up by posting the wrong photograph of him. Slamming the media he tweeted, “India’s media would be up in arms if any other country got the picture of their PM wrong. Yet they continue to embarrass themselves and insult us when it comes to identifying our PM. Bhutan may be small, but she is India’s close neighbour and a very close friend.”
Here’s his tweet.
The channel addressed Tshering Tobgay as the current PM of Bhutan whereas Lotay Tshering is the PM of Bhutan at present.
Later on, the channel asked an apology to the former PM. Their tweet read as: “We regret the inadvertent error, which occurred due to the nature of a newsroom processing real-time information through multiple teams. It was rectified as soon as it was noticed.”
Also, Indians supported and apologised on behalf of Indian media.
He later shared a photo of the current PM with a tweet thanking Indian media for ‘support and understanding’.
This is indeed a gaffe by media which is not expected. The facts and figures should be correct before publishing or broadcasting any news.
