Five-year-old girl underwent surgery and is in a critical condition after sexual assault

The incident took place in a village called Manesar on Wednesday night. A five-year-old girl was raped by her relative who is 22-year-old. The villagers caught the rapist and handed him over to the police after roughing him up.

The Gurugram chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Shakuntala Dhull said that the victim underwent surgery and is in a critical condition after the operation.

According to the Hindustan times report, the station house officer of women’s police station, Kanta Devi said the incident took place around 10.30pm on Wednesday when the girl, the youngest of nine sisters, was alone at her house in the village.

The accused is charged under Section 6 of the POCSO Act. Further Devi added, “The accused is related to the victim’s sister from her in-laws’ side and used to visit their house often. He lives in a rented house in the same neighbourhood. On Wednesday night, the girl’s sister was occupied elsewhere and her husband was not present on the premises when the accused came to their house. He took the girl to his place and allegedly raped her.”

Police details say, the accused earlier worked as a labourer with a private company in Manesar, but is unemployed at present. He was produced in the district court of Gurugram on Thursday and sent to judicial custody.

The victim’s medical examination was conducted. She was in a state of shock after the incident.
