Four people were injured as a major fire broke out at the Priya Cinema, South Kolkata during a late night show on Sunday. People were inside the cinema hall watching a movie when smoke started to drill out of the building causing a huge uproar outside.
The fire quickly engulfed the building, forcing people who were stuck to go to the roof. Most of the audiences were out even before the fire has spread, causing a stir in the nearby areas that includes the busy neighborhood of the Deshapriya park area

The building also had the owners of the cinema hall, who finding no route to escape the, immediately jumped into the terrace to protect themselves.
“People were inside when the fire broke out. The fire brigade acted promptly and the fire has been doused,” said Sovan Chatterjee quoted the NDTV.
Five fire engines were rushed to the spot to rescue the trapped people and the family that owned the theatre and resides in the same building.
Reportedly, the fire started downstairs before spreading out to the entire building. The Firemen used oxygen masks to reach the people on the roof as not many people were present to hold it.

The fire in the building triggered panic in Deshapriya Park locality and other areas, but the police said that everything was now fine now in the area.
