Mumbai Police has now registered an FIR against Republic TV’s Editor in Chief Arnab Goswami. It is for allegedly obstructing arrest and assaulting a woman police officer. The woman police officer has filed a complaint against Arnab. Also included are his wife, son and two others.
The case is registered against Arnab Goswami under Section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code at Mumbai’s NM Joshi Marg police station.
Arnab Goswami was arrested by Raigad Police from his Mumbai residence yesterday. It was for allegedly abetting the suicide of 53-year interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik in 2018.

On Arnab’s arrest, Anvay Naik’s wife and daughter Akshata and Adnya Naik thanked the Maharashtra police for taking action in the case. Akshita Naik wife of late Anvay Naik said, “I really want to thank Maharashtra police that this day has come in my life. I kept a lot of patience. Although my husband and mother-in-law will not come back with this but they are still alive for me: Akshita Naik, wife of late Anvay Naik on Arnab Goswami’s arrest.”

As reported by sources to India Today, Republic TV has moved the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) as well as the Maharashtra Human Rights Commission. This was against the Mumbai and Raigad police for “unjustly and illegally manhandling, assaulting and arresting Arnab Goswami.
