Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is all set to be honoured with the prestigious FIAF Award. It is for his contribution to the preservation of global film heritage. The Shahenshah of Bollywood will receive this award from Hollywood celebs, Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan. The iconic Hollywood filmmakers, who are themselves, recipients of the FIAF Award, will present the award during a virtual showcase. The event will take place on March 19.
The FIAF is a worldwide organisation, comprising film archives and museums from across the world. Amitabh Bachchan’s name was nominated by the FIAF affiliate Film Heritage Foundation. IT is a not-for-profit organisation founded by filmmaker Shivendra Singh Dungarpur.
Frederic Maire, President of FIAF, said, “By presenting our prestigious FIAF Award to Amitabh Bachchan, we want to show the world how rich and diverse, but also how fragile, this unique film heritage is, and we want to publicly thank Bachchan for his role as a high-profile advocate for the rescue of this heritage, in India and beyond.”
Amitabh was elated about getting recognised with the award. He said that he was honoured and was ‘deeply committed’ to the cause. He also stressed that it is important that the idea of film archiving is strengthened and promoted in India.
On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo with Ayushmann Khurrana. He will next be seen in Rumy Jafry’s Chehre with Emraan Hashmi. The actor also has Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra with Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. He will also be seen in Mayday with Ajay Devgn.
