Roger Federer to defend Hopman cup before heading to Australian Open
The defending Australian Open champion will return to Perth later this year to defend Hopman cup. He will defend the mixed teams Tennis title with his countrymen Belinda Bencic.
Roger Federer takes this as an opportunity to start preparations for the all important Australian Open. He says this will be a good outing with his Switzerland teammate.
The 36 year old has won the last two Australian Open titles after participating in the mixed doubles tournament which starts on December 29th in the Australian city of Perth.

The two time Grand Slam Champion Angelique Kerber and world number three Alexander Zverev will join Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic. They were the last year’s runners up and with the update of Roger Federer deciding to defend Hopman cup, all odds will be against the title seekers.
“Hopman Cup is obviously the perfect preparation for the Australian Open and it worked so well the last couple of years, I can’t wait to come back,” Federer told reporters.
