Famous Pakistani Comedian Umer Sharif Passes Away, Kapil Sharma Pays Tribute

Veteran Pakistani comedian and television personality Umer Sharif passed away on Saturday. The legendary comedian breathed his last in Germany. The 66-year-old was facing several health issues since his bypass surgery last year. His health has kept deteriorating for the past year.

The news of Umer Sharif’s demise was confirmed by Pakistan’s ambassador to Germany Dr Mohammad Faisal. He tweeted, “With deep sorrow, it is announced that Mr Umer Sharif has passed away. In #Germany. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Our CG is present at the hospital to assist the family in every way.”

As news of Sharif’s death broke, artists from Pakistan and India paid tributes on social media to offer condolences to his family.

Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma took to his Twitter handle and paid tribute to the Pakistani comedian. Sharing Umer Sharif’s picture, Kapil wrote, “Alvida legend may your soul Rest In Peace #UmerShareef”

Actor-singer Ali Zafar tweeted, “The passing of the great Umar Sharif Sahab is a great loss. May Allah grant him a high place in heaven and peace to his family. Ameen.”

Randeep Hooda tweeted,

Umar started his career as a stand-up comedian at the early age of 14 years. His knack for making people laugh, made him ruled hearts. He was soon known as ‘King of Comedy’.
