Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman became the first Pakistani batsman to score a double hundred in One Day Internationals. He achieved the feat by scoring an unbeaten 210 off just 156 balls against Zimbabwe on Friday.
The explosive Pakistani opener has been in sublime touch lately. He scored a famous match winning 91 against Australia in the recently conducted tri series final. Today he broke Saeed Anwar’s 21-year-old record with a magnificent knock in 4th ODI against Zimbabwe on Friday. In the 46th over of the innings, batting on 188, Zaman slammed back-to-back boundaries to achieve the landmark. Soon after achieving the feat, Fakhar became the first Pakistani batsman to score a double ton in ODIs.

In the ODI format, Anwar had scored 194 runs way back in 1997 against India in Chennai. It remained as the highest individual score in ODIs before it was broken in 2010 by Sachin Tendulkar, who became the first batsman ever to score a double century in ODIs. The little master remained unbeaten on 200 runs against South Africa at Gwalior. After Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma and Virender Sehwag also scored double centuries in ODIs for India.
Chris Gayle and Martin Guptill are the only two overseas batsmen to reach the 200-run mark in ODIs. Rohit Sharma is the only player who has two ODI double centuries to his name holding record of the highest ODI individual score ever, 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014. The knock came at Eden Gardens where Rohit Sharma has had great success over the years.
Fakhar Zaman came to limelight with a staggering hundred against arch rivals team India in the ICC Champions Trophy finals. Pakistan posted a total of 399 runs which is also their highest ever total in the 50-over format. In reply, Zimbabwe are struggling on 68/5 in 19 overs.
