Former Union Minister Jaswant Singh Passes Away At 82: Tributes Pour In
Former Union Minister Jaswant Singh passed away on Sunday in Delhi. The 82-year-old was admitted to Delhi’s Army Hospital in June. He died today at 6:55 am of a cardiac arrest the hospital said in a statement.
Jaswant Singh had served as India’s foreign minister, defense minister, and finance minister. Mr. Singh was an officer in the Indian Army in the 1950s and 60s, but he later resigned to pursue a career in politics. He was one of the longest-serving parliamentarians in the country.
His mortal remains were taken to Jodhpur for his last rites. Singh’s family members and relatives were present during the cremation at the farmhouse located near a civil airport. His son Manvendra Singh lit the funeral pyre. A wreath was also laid on behalf of the Indian Army.

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi also expressed her condolences. Former prime minister Manmohan Singh also said that Singh was an able administrator and an outstanding parliamentarian. BJP leader Lal Krishan Advani too condoled Jaswant Singh’s demise.
