Under immense pressure following the Test series whitewash, the West Indies were dealt with another heavy blow after opener Evin Lewis pulled out of the limited overs series, citing personal reasons.
West Indies were humbled to a 0-2 defeat in the two-match Test series and a lot is expected from the ODI and Twenty-20 series, with the Caribbean team World Champions in the shortest format. They play five One-Day matches and three T20
Lewis had earlier declined a central contract from the West Indies cricket board, following in the footsteps of the likes of Chris Gayle and other stars from the region. With no central contract, the players can play the various t20 leagues around the world.
26-year-old Lewis is also the second West Indies player after Gayle to pull out of the limited-overs tour in India. Gayle, who is currently playing in the Afghanistan Premier League in Sharjah has already informed about his unavailability earlier. He will also play the T10 league and hence is unavailable for the India and Bangladesh tour.

Meanwhile, Andre Russell will also not feature in the ODI team but has been named in the T20 team.
Kieran Powell has been named as Lewis’ replacement in the ODI squad, while 23-year-old Nicolas Pooran will replace him the T20 team.
Powell and Pooran have been asked to replace Evin Lewis in the ODI and T20 squads; while McCoy will replace Alzarri Joseph, who remains under observation for his return to full fitness,” said a statement from the Windies Cricket Board as quoted by PTI.
